South Island deliveries will be facing additional delays for the next few days.
NZ Post Delivery operations have been suspended in all areas where a “State of Emergency” has been declared, and they have been instructed to cease delivery in any other areas where they feel conditions are unsafe.
This will result in a significant impact on our network today and over the coming days.
Due to the closure of main highways in South Canterbury area and with no detours available NZ Post had to suspend transport over the weekend as well as suspending transport between Christchurch and Dunedin/Central Otago.
Links to the West Coast of the South Island will operate an alternative route and transport to and from Christchurch to the Upper South Island should not be impacted.
The delays will have an impact on packages sent from Auckland at the end of last week and possible overnight freight sent Friday. At this stage NZ Post is unable to provide any ETAs or investigations in this area. You can monitor your packages on www.nzpost.co.nz
We are monitoring the situation closely.
